and Internet-based applications for defense related clients
and information consumers. Since then, he has developed a
broad base of contacts and expertise in the media and communications
sectors and is currently working on a book and several studies
related the impact of the Internet on politics, public relations,
and national security.
After graduating from Marshall University with a B.A. in Political
Science in 1992, Zac went on the serve as an officer in the
1st Cavalry Division, United States Army. In 1994, Zac left
the active component to pursue a graduate degree, and in 1996
completed his M.A. in European History at the University of
North Carolina, Wilmington. As part of his commitment to the
Army though, he continued to serve as a traditional guardsman
in the North Carolina Army National Guard’s 30th Infantry
Brigade (Enhanced) until 1998, when he transferred to the
West Virginia Army National Guard’s 196th Mobile Public
Affairs Detachment. In 2000 he left the service as a Captain.
After completing his masters, Zac launched Northup Information
Services (NiSi), and began publishing a defense journal called
National Guard Review.
National Guard Review was a quarterly publication focused
on the National Guard, foreign affairs, and U.S. defense policy.
Now published exclusively online, NGR features interviews and articles
from a wide range of people to include U.S. Senators, general
officers, service secretaries, and other influential people
from within the defense community.
Since its inception, as mentioned
above, NiSi has expanded its defense publishing business and
has also moved into business consulting, executive news briefings,
and predictive intelligence services. Through the "Executive Assessments" service,
NiSi provides several exclusive clients with the information
they need to succeed in today’s dispersed media environment.
In addition to National Guard Defense Review, Zac’s
work has been published in the Houston Post, National Guard
Magazine, Air Force Times, and various course materials at
the United States Army War College. |
